Fall running is almost here.
Like or not, believe or not – fall is around the corner. We actually had our first “skiff” of snowfall up high and that was in August. So what will Fall weather hold? Cold temps, cool morning and evening air? What about the changing of the leaves? Well personally I am excited! I enjoy running on our amazing single track and hearing the crunching of leaves under my not so fast moving feet. I love fall running. It rejuvenates me and let me tell you, I need it.
So we here at N.U.T.S. headquarters want to know where you like to run in the fall and why.
Leave a comment- come on it’s E-Z! Oh and while you are at it, sign up for the Howlin’ Wolf 20k.
Howlin’ Wolf 20k
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!!!!!!!
Howlin’ Wolf 20k
October 2nd, 2010
Start Time: 8 A.M.
Course Description:
Starting at the base of the ski resort run north on the service road. Veer right onto a single track that takes you up through a stand of trees and deposits you at the top of Wolf Lair ski lift. From the top of this lift you will join the service road and run this south for a short distance looking for the cross country shortcut to Pine Creek trail. Once on the Pine Creek, climb this scenic trail for about 3 miles and 1000 feet of vertical gain to the top of Wolf Creek Ski resort. Once at the top of the resort you will find a fully stocked aid station. After filling up on some water or EFS, join the single track that heads north and corkscrews down the mountain and joins the service road above Wolf lair chairlift. Again, run up the service road but this time you will go all the way to the top. After visiting the aid station back track down the service road a short distance and find the single track on the south side of the resort and take a second corkscrew trail down the mountain until it joins the Pine Creek trail. Run the Pine Creek trail north for a short distance and veer left onto a service road that brings you back to the Green Mile and climb it back to the top of the ski area for a final time. After your quick visit to the aid station join the Pine Creek trail for your final descent to the finish line.
Overview:
-3 summits of Wolf Creek
- 2 Corkscrew single track descents
- 12-ish miles of fun
